Matt Roy Joins Big Machine Music’s Writer Roster

Big Machine Music (BMM), a subsidiary of HYBE America, has added singer-songwriter Matt Roy to its writer roster with an exclusive co-publishing agreement. “Matt has a natural instinct of both craft and commerciality beyond what can be taught or learned. I believe he will be one of the great songwriters of his generation,” notes Big Machine Music’s General Manager Mike Molinar. “We are incredibly honored that he has chosen Big Machine Music as his publishing partner.”

The song comes courtesy of newcomer Matt Roy (Chris Janson’s “DONE”) and hitmaker Craig Wiseman (Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying” and Kenny Chesney’s “The Good Stuff”).

While Cooke loves to pen her own lyrics, she quickly learned the importance of utilizing the outstanding resources on music row. “If you really resonate with a song, it doesn’t matter if you wrote it or not, music is music.” Her recently released track “Sunday Morning Kinda Saturday Night” fell in her lap, thanks to Craig Wiseman and Matt Roy. The lyrics behind the mid-tempo single imminently spoke to Cooke, which left her no choice other to record the window-down type of song.

Though it may have looked a little different than a normal No. 1 party, Anthem Entertainment and Warner Chappell Music hosted an intimate dinner this week for Chris Janson and the co-writers of his multi-week chart-topping single “Done.” “Done” was a MusicRow CountryBreakout Radio Chart No. 1 in July. The hit song, written by Janson, Mitch Oglesby, Matt Roy and Jamie Paulin, marks the Warner Music Nashville’s fourth career No. 1 as an artist.
